With the requirement for many of us to work from home it seems that life as we know it has morphed into one long, never-ending Zoom-Skype-WebEx-Hangout-Meet video fest. During the last few months I’ve attended great virtual meetings and, unfortunately, quite a few that, well to be honest, sucked.
Personally, I’ve gone from zero to hero[ine] regarding Zoom functionality, with multiscreen displays, two camera angles, shared whiteboards, breakout rooms, etc. You name it, my team and I are exploiting technology to ensure our events are interactive, fun, and more importantly impactful.

Unfortunately, losing your job never comes at a good time. The sudden loss of income and change in routine can be catastrophic to many people. Not knowing what to do or where to turn is common among those who just recently lost their job. Understanding your options will give you a leg up on the competition and put you back on track to a rewarding career. There are many reasons why people can be out of work including company lay-offs, firings, and being furloughed. All of these situations are different but puts everyone in the same position – without a job. The first thing to consider is to take some time for yourself and process what happened.

Millennials and Gen Z workers have become the majority in many companies and professions, outnumbering Generation X’s smaller cohort and the fast-retiring Baby Boomer workforce. Employees from previous generations primarily desired good pay and job stability, but younger workers also want more growth-oriented workplaces, development opportunities, and better integration between work and life. These shifts in the workplace require a comparable shift in how workplaces approach their employees.
