The human resource development (HRD) undergraduate program created by Purdue Polytechnic’s Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation has been accepted by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). The acceptance signifies the program’s alignment with SHRM’s standards for degree-based coursework in human resources. Furthermore, Polytechnic students graduating from the program will be waived the minimum two-year, HR-related work requirement, enabling them to take the SHRM Certified Professional exam upon graduation from the program. Mesut Akdere, associate professor of human resource development, director of the Purdue HRD Virtual Lab and the founding faculty of the major, says the program’s acceptance by SHRM is a milestone.
