HR Acuity Launches managER™ to Help People Leaders Get Employee Relations Right, Every Time

HR Acuity | October 28, 2021

HR Acuity, the only technology platform purpose-built for employee relations and investigations management, today announced the launch of managER, a new technology product designed for people leaders that simplifies managing employee issues. managER solves decades-old problems of inconsistent processes, inadequate documentation and ineffective resolutions related to employee issues such as performance problems or policy violations.

"Frontline people leaders are the most direct connection between a company's brand and their employees,Until now, managers lacked the tools and guidance needed to help them handle everyday employee issues properly. managER provides the framework and technology needed to document employee issues quickly, consistently and fairly – all while building manager confidence. This results in enterprises retaining employees and creating safer workplaces."

-Deb Muller, CEO and founder of HR Acuity.

Muller further explained, "As much as technology has improved how people leaders participate in other areas of HR (coaching, performance reviews and onboarding), the opportunity for technology to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of employee relations at the manager level remains largely untapped. In addition to empowering people leaders, enlarging the scope of data captured related to employee issues delivers a powerful set of predictive insights to identify areas of concern, policy or training opportunities, potential inequities or even bias within organizations."

HR Acuity conducted a recent survey on management practices and found that just 2% of employee relations professionals were "very confident" that their managers could address and document employee relations issues effectively. The survey also found that managers lack access to historical data and need better tools to handle concerns in a uniform and compliant manner. managER closes that gap by giving people leaders the technology they need to manage employee matters in real time.

Key managER features include:

  • Step-by-step guidance on handling common workplace issues, including assistance in selecting the appropriate issue and built-in guidance to help prepare formal letters
  • Easily accessible visibility into past employee issues and actions taken to help determine next steps
  • Seamless workflows to document early warnings or deliver formal notices
  • Simple, built-in review and approval process for people leaders to get assistance or approvals from HR
  • Data from the people-leader level compiled into one centralized dashboard, allowing employee relations teams to proactively spot trends and identify patterns
  • By enabling people leaders to handle everyday employee issues with more confidence, managER gives HR and employee relations teams more time to focus on broader strategic initiatives and improve consistency and fairness across the organization. Better processes and earlier engagement also promote trust between employees and their leaders.

"For us, managER was not a hard sell,We believe in empowering our people leaders to manage their employees, but we understand that they need the help and guidance that managER provides to them. The product also facilitates communication between employee relations and people leaders. We're confident that managER will change our culture, driving more accountability for managers."

-Paula Ramirez, VP of HR Shared Services at Boeing Employee Credit Union

It's time to upgrade how people leaders handle employee issues on the front lines. Find out more about how managER, powered by HR Acuity, can help at www.hracuity.com/manager.

Supporting employee’s wellbeing through the festive season

HR News | December 15, 2021

The NHS Confederation has warned that mental health problems are growing at an ‘alarming’ rate in England, with 1 in 6 adults having experienced some form of depression in summer 2021, exacerbated by the pandemic. “The festive season is meant to be a wonderful time of year; however, it can bring a lot of extra stress and worry. Many employees are balancing work pressures with family duties and add to this financial worries and fears about the new Omicron variant. This year, offering support to people over the holidays season is so important and could make a big difference to employee wellbeing and ensure your people return to work in 2022 refreshed, motivated and ready to hit the ground running.” -Mark Fosh, Divisional Director at Howden Here are Howden’s top tips to support employee wellbeing this festive season: Encourage employees to ‘switch off’ – An ‘always on’ culture has been exacerbated by the pandemic as the boundaries between home and work have blurred. Encouraging employees to switch off and take a break has never been more important. Spending time with family and friends and catching up on sleep are key ingredients for good wellbeing. Be aware of ‘Divorce Day’ -The first working Monday after the festive break has been named ‘Divorce Day’ due to family lawyers reporting higher than usual enquiries on this day. While relationship issues are personal, the impact of a divorce can be difficult for employees to manage, with prolonged periods of stress leading to depression and anxiety. Being mindful of this, employers can remind employees of support services that could help people going through relationship troubles including a divorce, such as Mental Health First Aiders and the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which offers mental health, financial planning and legal support. Festive money worries – The average UK family will spend an average £821.25[ii] in the run up to the festive season. Money worries can cause anxiety, stress and depression. Promoting support services such as EAPs, Citizens Advice, Step Change and the National Debt Line could help employees. Also, businesses could consider running a financial wellbeing programme in 2022, to give employees the tools and know-how to make informed financial decisions. Support employees’ mental health – Be mindful of employees who might not be coping well over the festive period. Look out for uncharacteristic behaviour such as missing deadlines, someone acting more quietly or aggressively or frequently turning up late. Ensure help and support are in place as this will help to reduce absences. Benefits such as EAPs. Virtual GPs and Mental Health First aiders can be used as a first line of defence. Also, promote mental health support available through charities such as Mind, the Samaritans and Victim Support. Signpost employees to their employee benefits – Often employees don’t know what benefits are available, so why not send out a reminder over the festive period? Use end of year communications to provide a useful summary of the benefits and support on offer and importantly, how employees can access them when they need them. Encourage health activities -A combination of lack of exercise and overdoing the festive treats can have a detrimental impact on physical wellbeing. Encourage employees to stay active over the festive break, for example by going out for daily walks. This can also help them cope with any extra pressure over the festive period. In the New Year why not set up a workplace health challenge such as walking, running or cycling? This can be a great way to get teams involved in some friendly and healthy competition, encourage better health habits and boost employees’ wellbeing. Finally, a simple thank you can go a long way – When employees are snowed under and pressure is high, it can be easy to forget the importance of saying thank you. A small but important gesture that lets people know their efforts are noticed and appreciated can really boost morale and motivation. To find out more about looking after employees’ mental health and wellbeing or request an employee benefits review, to make sure they are still fit for purpose for 2022, get in touch with Howden.

Venterra Realty | December 28, 2021

Venterra Realty continues to invest in mobile technologies for enhanced employee processes and productivity, which has successfully resulted in improved employee flexibility, efficiencies, and job satisfaction. Since its inception, Venterra has maintained a focus on enabling its workforce to create opportunities for internal job growth and is on the front lines of building an environment where skilled people seek to be employed. One of the ways that Venterra has set itself apart in its ability to maintain a highly-skilled workforce is an emphasis on making work-life easier by leveraging solutions to support a mobile workforce, reducing tedious tasks, and allowing for time to be spent completing meaningful responsibilities. "It is no secret that Venterra's culture is appealing to potential and current colleagues. A large part of our culture is about implementing innovative solutions to enable our people to be successful in their role, and for our people in onsite roles. Specifically, this means freeing them from the desk and office and enabling them with tools, technology, and real-time data to make decisions while they are out on the property, meeting with residents, doing inspections, completing service requests, etc. Behind our technology-first approach is the fact that we care deeply about the daily lives of our colleagues and are always considering how we can leverage mobile and digital tools to improve their satisfaction. At the end of the day, people want to feel like they made an impact. Providing efficiencies enables them to get to impact faster and more often. " -Stephanie Gonzalez, Vice President of Innovations. To double-down on mobilizing Venterra's frontlines and Property Operations, Venterra has added dual function, mobile computing platforms to enable on-site staff to manage their properties while away from their desks and offices, a proprietary mobile app for property management teams is also available for those that prefer a smaller device, are on the go, or want to stay productive from their phones, eliminating the need for return trips to the office; and smart home automation products, to support key-less digital apartment access for community managers and maintenance people, eliminating trips to the office for keys. These not only impact colleague satisfaction, but they also have a significant impact on resident satisfaction. "Response and resolution times have never mattered more to consumers, so when you have access to everything you need and can reach resolution in real time, while out on property, without having to return to the office, that translates to real value for our residents which translates to more satisfied residents. Bottom line, make things easier and solve problems faster for your customers and they will love you for it," Gonzalez adds. "A key benefit of our technology stack is that we built it ourselves. Our PMS, mobile property operations app, resident app, and our CRM are therefore fully integrated, so we can adapt much more quickly to accommodate new ways of working," - Andrew Basso, Vice President of Technology. In addition to specific support for property-oriented operations, Venterra has also invested in tools that support the broader workforce. This includes class-leading software platforms for collaboration, planning, and cloud-based analytics, along with an events platform that allows leaders to connect to engage in company-wide learning. Venterra is thereby able to constant meaningful content that team members can engage with on their schedule from the comfort of their homes.
