How to Really Achieve a Work-Life Balance as a Nurse

May 9, 2016 | 225 views

Working as a nurse can be incredibly exciting and rewarding. Unfortunately, nursing is also a very stressful profession, and many nurses find that their unpredictable work schedules and rigorous job duties prevent them from maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Still, creating that balance is important, as spending quality time away from work allows you to relax, refocus and ultimately take better care of your patients. If you’re in need of a work-life recalibration, here are three helpful tips to get you started. Leave Work at WorkIn certain professions, people are exposed to situations that stick with them, and nursing is certainly one of those professions. On any given day, a nurse may play a part in a particularly tragic or emotional story, and those stories can affect you long after your shift is over. In order to have a healthy home life, however, you need to do your best to block out work events after you leave for the day. If you spend all night dwelling on something that happened at work, not only will your home life suffer, you’ll also be mentally drained going into work tomorrow.

Greenhouse Software Moves Up The 2023 Fosway 9-Grid™ For Talent Acquisition

PRnewswire | May 22, 2023

Greenhouse, the hiring operating system for people-first companies, today announced it has moved up within the Core Leader zone in the 2023 Fosway 9-Grid™ for Talent Acquisition. For the third consecutive year, Greenhouse has been recognized as a talent acquisition industry leader for its continued growth in EMEA, investment in enterprise, product advancements and proven ability to deliver value to customers as they work to improve their hiring processes and build stronger businesses. The skills crisis remains a big challenge for the largest of European economies and according to Fosway, "Employers are still desperate to hire key skills despite a mixed economic outlook." Companies paying close attention would do well to focus on key areas of strategic ability including candidate experience which includes structured interviewing, onboarding and adding the right integrations to their personalized hiring tech stack. Additionally, amidst an uncertain economic outlook, Fosway reports, "Corporates in EMEA are looking to both increase diversity and reduce bias," which places more emphasis on talent acquisition teams to further prioritize bias mitigation in the hiring process for fairer decision-making. "The Talent Acquisition market is evolving at pace, despite the challenging economic climate," said David Wilson, CEO, Fosway Group. "Greenhouse has shown significant growth over the past year, and also continues to innovate, accelerating its potential value to customers and its wider partner ecosystem." According to Fosway, "For corporates, a recession can mean two things: either hiring stops or it continues but selectively. For TA teams, this can create the opportunity to redesign or improve existing recruiting experiences, as well as to innovate and look at new solutions or evolve their TA ecosystem." There are numerous ways Greenhouse believes organizations can continue to create value, and this report underlines the need for a long-term, sustainable hiring process. "European companies face a challenging moment of economic uncertainty, and this latest Fosway report highlights that another Great Resignation is on the horizon. Talent acquisition teams need to prepare to hire for what's next, now, and there's an acute need to focus on process improvements around candidate experience, onboarding in a virtual world and building a strong foundation of structured hiring to win top talent," said Colm O'Cuinneain, General Manager of EMEA, Greenhouse. Key trends from the report that companies should consider: Structured interviewing holds the key to a stronger candidate experience: The report recommends that talent acquisition technology buyers should embrace every improvement in the "interview revolution" to create better experiences for candidates. "Suite vendors are continually investing in their products, and each update provides more benefits to clients." Greenhouse recently launched Pay Transparency features within its hiring software suite. A spotlight is given to onboarding workflows which are vital in hybrid work: Fosway says, "Onboarding transcends journeys and starts to create truly memorable experiences," emphasizing the importance of setting up new hires for success after the financial and time investment or hiring top talent. This report cites, "With close to 60% of organisations changing their approach to flexible working in 2023, more corporates will continue to feel the pains of virtual onboarding." Greenhouse Onboarding now includes new features like Greenhouse Goals for New Hires, to allow new hires to become productive, engaged and active members of the company faster. DE&I and AI are having a reckoning in hiring: With new products touting AI and automation at scale, Fosway cautions that companies do their due diligence, comply with state and national legal compliance and continue to address and mitigate unconscious bias in hiring. "Reducing bias in hiring decisions is a shared accountability – corporates must work harder on their own controls as well." As the average number of integrations per customer continues to grow, a seamless, customizable and wide-ranging integration ecosystem will support a personalized tech stack: Greenhouse has cultivated the largest partner ecosystem that includes over 450 unique partners. Greenhouse customers are offered free and open APIs that allow them to think – and solve for – every step and dimension of their hiring process. In 2022, Greenhouse added over 60 new integrations including Microsoft Dynamics, Oyster, Paylocity and Sapia. The Fosway 9-Grid™ is EMEA's premier five-dimensional model that compares organizations based on their Performance, Potential, Market Presence, Total Cost of Ownership and Future Trajectories across the market. Unlike other analyst models, Fosway 9-Grid™ research is primarily focused on talent acquisition solutions which are relevant to international enterprise-scale customers whose primary engagement with provider is throughout European headquarters. ServiceNow announces Employee Growth and Development, an AI-powered talent transformation solution to drive skills-based workforce management

Businesswire | May 19, 2023

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the leading digital workflow company making the world work better for everyone, today announced Employee Growth and Development (EGD), an AI-powered talent transformation solution to drive skills-based workforce management. The new solution will help organizations better understand the strengths of their workforce and build a scalable skills strategy that helps close talent gaps and improve employee experiences—all on a single platform. More than three-quarters of employees (76%) say they are more likely to stay with a company that offers continuous learning and development, according to SHRM. If leaders don’t focus on skills development to help employees thrive, they risk losing talent to companies that do. EGD addresses this challenge, connecting numerous, disconnected point solutions used for learning and development to guide employees and their managers through career plans and development goals. It’s underpinned by AI-powered skills intelligence acquired from Hitch Works, which will serve as a dynamic engine that recommends relevant trainings, mentors, and mobility opportunities. “Organizations are nothing without their people. In this competitive market, to grow business, leaders need to enable their employees to grow their careers in equitable and dynamic ways. This can’t be done without skills intelligence,” said Jacqui Canney, ServiceNow chief people officer. "The vision of Employee Growth and Development makes that all possible through personalized learning experiences that continually develop and enhance employee skills based on data and insights, resulting in a more engaged, motivated, and resilient workforce." One platform, one architecture, one data model connects systems and data The Now Platform along with EGD’s dynamic AI-powered skills intelligence can help give the solution a distinct competitive advantage. ServiceNow’s open architecture enables companies to integrate with systems across the enterprise, as well as with third-party and external data sources. As the connective tissue, EGD will help companies move functionality out of point solutions and into a simple, consumer-centric experience for employees, managers, and business leaders. “For years, HR leaders have invested in siloed tools for employee growth and development, leading to disconnected data and fragmented experiences. With Employee Growth and Development, ServiceNow is taking a major step forward in helping organizations simplify and optimize this experience,” said Gretchen Alarcon, SVP and GM, Employee Workflows, ServiceNow. “We’ve created a platform with AI-powered skills intelligence that spans back-end systems, so employees have a central place to access and act on all their learning, development, and growth needs. We’re leveraging the power of the Now Platform to power the employee experience of the future.” By bringing learning, development, and skills intelligence together on a single platform, EGD will give organizations the ability to act on insights rather than instinct. This solution empowers organizations to build a data-driven talent management strategy that predicts, identifies, and develops skills that will have the greatest impact on the business and close talent gaps. “Every company today is trying to build a skills strategy—it’s top of mind for CHROs and CEOs alike,” said Josh Bersin, founder and CEO, The Josh Bersin Company. “Building a skills database is a part of the solution, but it’s only a small piece of the puzzle. The future of skills is AI-driven. The companies that win will be those who push the boundaries of traditional HR and develop a sophisticated skills engine that brings siloed solutions together for more impactful, high-value learning. This is a big, bold move for ServiceNow!” With EGD, companies can be smarter and more agile—evaluating and developing employees based on their skills, not just their experience or education. AI-powered skills intelligence also opens the door for dynamic career paths, surfacing new opportunities and trainings for employees so they can build the skills they need today while also planning for the future. About ServiceNow ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) makes the world work better for everyone. Our cloud-based platform and solutions help digitize and unify organizations so that they can find smarter, faster, better ways to make work flow. So employees and customers can be more connected, more innovative, and more agile. And we can all create the future we imagine. The world works with ServiceNowTM.
