Google, Airbnb are tech applicants' most desired employers

Google and Airbnb are two of the most desirable tech companies for employees, according to Hired; the employers led Hired's 2019 publicly traded and privately owned lists, respectively. The career marketplace firm polled 3,600 tech candidates, including software engineers, designers, data scientists and product managers on each company's "brand positivity index" —  the number of candidates interested in working for a company. Following Google on the public list are Netflix, Apple, LinkedIn and Microsoft. Rounding out the privately owned list's top five are SpaceX, Hulu, Reddit and Kickstarter. Hired also asked applicants about factors that would encourage them to leave a job, and 75% said higher base pay. Fifty-six percent said new challenges and 42% said a better location and commute.
