PlanSource, a leading provider of cloud-based benefits administration technology, has introduced a new solution to prevent ineligible dependents from enrolling in benefit plans. PlanSource, a leading provider of cloud-based benefits administration technology, has introduced a new solution to prevent ineligible dependents from enrolling in benefit plans. DependentIQ, an artificial intelligence-powered verification process in the PlanSource platform, removes a labor-intensive HR administrative job. HR and benefits administrators may use DependentIQ to avoid awkward conversations with employees about ineligible dependents while also ensuring compliance with Summary Plan Descriptions, HR policies, and rules.

DependentIQ recognizes required documents such as birth and marriage certificates and instantly detects and validates key data elements to allow real-time enrollment verification. Dependents will be approved or refused, preventing ineligible individuals from ever being on the system or participating in benefit plans, lowering medical premiums for fully insured plans, and claims expenses for self-insured plans. DependentIQ makes it simple and quick for HR teams to accomplish these cost savings by automating the whole process and offering an analytics dashboard for simple and actionable tracking.

DependentIQ ensures ERISA compliance in addition to SPDs and HR policies. Because ERISA mandates that plans be managed for the benefit of both employers and employees, plan fiduciaries are required to do so. Even if done unintentionally, giving coverage to ineligible individuals risks employers to civil responsibility. DependentIQ reduces stop-loss exposure as well as litigation risk associated with ERISA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other regulations.
